Annie’s Glen Bikeway Tunnel

Local artist Janice Hofmann, the proprietor of All Fired Up Ceramic Art Center, was commissioned by the city to collaborate with schools and community organizations in crafting six-inch by six-inch tiles that depict the Big Chico Creek riparian corridor. Originally established in 2008, this project received further embellishment in 2010 through a Public Art tile installation. The Pine and Cypress streets underpass was designated as a safe cycling path leading to Chico Junior High School. The selection of this project was based on criteria such as physical structures and facilities, construction management, environmental impact, community engagement, safety performance and exceptional achievements.
